Groupon, while expressing their philanthropic side, is introducing Groupon Grassroots. “With Groupon Grassroots, supporters can continue to rally together and positively impact their community in ways they couldn’t do alone—donate to causes such as planting trees in a park or cleaning trash off the mayor’s private beach.”
In conjunction with the launch of  Groupon Grassroots, the company is  issuing an Earth Day challenge by partnering with Crowdwise (co-founded by Edward Norton).   Beginning on April 22, 2012 (Earth Day) and ending on May 15, 2012, the challenge is to become more involved in our world, by donating to a favorite charity;  joining the team for a worthy cause or start your own environmental movement. Whichever campaign raises the most funds by the deadline will win between $25, 000 – $10,000.
